Riseholme, Saxmundham
Riseholme was a replacement dwelling project, where a fairly undistinguished bungalow originally occupied the site (see below for pictures). Its suburban appearance was at odds with the rural street scene, by contrast the new dwelling is of a more traditional form & appearance and incorporates the use of traditional materials.
The replacement dwelling was carefully and sensitively designed to relate to the other dwellings with the vicinity. The scale and height of the dwelling relates well to the form and character of the housing stock within the neighbourhood, being of one and half storeys in proportion, which compliments the size and shape of the properties in the area. The proportions of the dwelling have regard to the traditional Suffolk vernacular form.
